In Cary Fukunaga’s 2015 script Richie was Richie Goldfarb and he was the son of the rabbi. Richie was gay in that draft and I vaguely remember “I’ll tell the rabbi” stuff as well (and for the continuity that was actually made I like the drama of “I’ll tell the rabbi” whether Richie is Jewish or not because even if his best friend’s dad isn’t his rabbi it’s still his best friend’s dad).
It’s worth mentioning that Stan was a FUCKING GOLDFISH in this draft of the script.
All I know is that in the 2015 version of the script there were six Losers instead of seven and Will (Bill, but for some reason they had changed his name to Will is this version, not the only character they did that to, Henry was Travis in this version) had a pet goldfish named Stanley. I have no idea why Cary Fukunaga did this.
